KJ (Mr. YeahBoyy)

KJ (Mr. YeahBoyy)

KJ who is also known by his musical name, Mr. YeahBoyy, was born in Hammond, Louisiana. His family later moved to McComb, MS, which is in Pike County, Mississippi. He is a member of East Fernwood Baptist Church in Magnolia, MS, which is pastored by Jimmy J. Wilson. There, he began playing the keyboard for the choir. As he stayed planted there under the teaching and encouragement of his pastor, it was later discovered that KJ had extraordinary musical talents. He could play an assortment of instruments such as: keyboard, guitar, saxophone, maracas, bongos, organ and drums with ease. He also was able to compose music and lyrics. As time went by, KJ had become a song writer for various gospel singing groups such as Unlimited Authority, Divinity, and The Stellar Award Winner, David R. Curry Jr. Co-Founder of The Mississippi Mass Choir and Chapter Representative Of The Greater Jackson Chapter Choir (TGJC) of the GMWA. God is continually bringing the once shy and inhibited musician out of the shadows and into the spotlight as he now composes, produces, directs, and arranges music that he, himself engineers. When asked how he comes up with lyrics to songs, K.J. states: “The Holy Spirit brings the words to me and I just arrange them into a beautiful melody that will bless God’s people and glorify the Lord.”

God has really blessed K.J.’s musical career and has enlarged his territory quite a bit. Over just a few short years, KJ has had many accomplishments including:

  • Jackson Music Award for ‘Musician of the Year’
  • Writer and producer of the song entitled: ‘So Good” for The Greater Jackson Community Choir (TGJCC)
  • Writer and producer of the song “Praise Inside of Me”
  • Writer and producer of the song “He’s Alive”
  • Instrumentalist for The Mississippi Mass Choir
  • Composer and producer of the song “Happy But Not Used” by new artist, Patrick Michael, which is now being played all over the United States
  • Instrumentalist at a November 2019 Only4Jesus Concert featuring the soul-stirring, Williams Singers

“Her pitch is superb…clear on the top and startling at the bottom, while all of the steps in between are polished with swing…I have not heard a voice like hers in decades.” Tammy’s talent was further developed by renowned music educator Rev. Ontario Showers

Ontario Showers

You definitely live in a small town if it’s name has creek in it. This happens to be the case for Ontario Showers. Fortunately, huge talent lies in small towns! Ontario Showers, a native of Silver Creek, MS, is a singer, songwriter, and musician with a heart for God and a passion for Gospel music. He has worked with some of the greats in traditional/quartet gospel music. These artists include the Jackson Southernaires, Evelyn Turrentine Agee, and Keith Wonderboy Johnson to name a few. After working for years in the quartet gospel industry, Ontario decided to set his eyes on his first solo recording venture in the summer of 2011. His freshman album, “Varsity Praise,” featured various sounds of gospel music which included praise and worship, contemporary, and traditional Gospel. Sierra Ward of Lisa Knowles and the Brown Singers, The Williams Singers, and Larry Veal of the Veal Brothers were all featured artists on this project! Variety Praise landed a National Rhythm of Gospel nomination in 2012 and a host of regional nominations. One critic said, “Variety Praise is an album that you can just pop in and never skip tracks. Every song is amazing.”

His sophomore album “The Press” released on January 19, 2019. This album features his group Delivered and other background vocalists. With songs ranging from the styles of traditional to contemporary worship, this project is sure to be a blessing to the body of Christ. The Press is available for download on all digital media and streaming outlets. The Press includes awesome songs such as Joy, For the good of them, Great Things, Yes, and He Will Supply. Each one of these pieces carries a message that will convict the nonbeliever and encourage the saints.

When asked, “What type of artist are you?“ Ontario answer is always, “I am a Gospel artist. Whatever the music sounds like doesn’t change the Gospel message.“ Ontario Showers and Delivered are constantly booking dates to share that message with the world.

On another note, Ontario also has seen his days as an actor. In the 2014 James Brown Biopic, produced by Universal Studios, Showers played Hearlon “Cheese” Martin, a guitar player for Brown.

It’s safe to say that no matter the roles or capacity he has to work in, Ontario Showers has proved himself time and time again.

Margie Curry

Margie Curry

Margie Curry is from Newton, Mississippi. She grew up in Kemper, County which is located in De Kalb, MS. As a little girl, church was such an integral part of her life.  She was introduced to gospel music at a very young age by her grandparents, Walter and Sally Barfield. Mr. Walter Barfield was a gospel vocalist who song at churches all throughout Mississippi and Alabama. Her grandparent’s Christian influence had made a great impact upon her life. She soon gave her life to Christ and began singing at church conventions.

“Your gift will make room for you and bring you before great men.” As she grew, others begin to see how God was using her to minister to crowds as an anointed vocalist, and doors soon began opening for her to sing at weddings, funerals, and reunion talent shows. She graced the stage with God’s presence and when she opened her mouth to sing, that gift that God had given her came rumbling out. People were blessed and inspired by her vocal abilities. Later, she began singing with various female quartets and was background vocalist for some of the best gospel singers around. Surely the Lord was enlarging Margie’s territory. But it didn’t stop there!  Over the years, Mrs. Curry has had the honor of singing at anniversaries and revivals to accommodate her pastor when he was called on to preach at other churches. She has also done her first solo project with David R. Curry, Jr. and The Greater Jackson Community Choir through Only4Jesus international ministries Recording Studios.
Presently, Mrs. Curry is a member of Little Rock Missionary Baptist Church where Rev. Carl Smith, presides as Pastor. She is a missionary visiting homes and ministering prayer and the word to those who are in need. She also serves as a Deaconess in her church. David R. Curry Jr

David R. Curry, Jr. (Minister of Music)

When writing about the Stellar Award Winning,  co- founder of the Mississippi Mass Choir, David R. Curry, Jr, there is an extraordinary life’s work to be told. For starters, he comes from a family of singers and musicians. His children travel the world and play for various artists. His wife, Emma Curry, who is the love of his life for 50 years, sang soprano with the Mississippi Mass Choir and the Deep South Mass Choir. His sisters, Dorcas Thigpen and Leah Curry sang and worked with The Deep South Mass Choir. In 1988, David Curry co-founded and directed the nationally and internationally reknown, Mississippi Mass Choir, which was formed by the late great gospel legendary singer, Frank Williams, who was an executive at Malaco Records.

In 2010, Mr. David R. Curry, Jr. conducted the workshop for The Deep South Mass Choir. In facilitating the clinical workshop, it promoted music education, the collaboration of the various musical styles, approaches, and compositions that coincided with the goals of the choir. “Oh that you would bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that your hand might be with me” Surely, the Lord’s hand is with David R. Curry, Jr. in that he has enlarged his territory and blessed him to change the lives of many.

In 2017, David R. Curry, Jr. had found The Greater Jackson MS Chapter (TGJC) of the Gospel Music Workshop of America, Inc. (GMWA). The objective of the association was to promote and advance the Christian message by using music as its primary medium and joining people from various musical backgrounds to accomplish that mission. Hence, the choir was composed of a caravan of choirs, choruses, soloists, and songwriters from all over the United States. TGJC is still going strong and is presently spearheaded by Chapter Representative, Minister David R. Curry, Jr.

In January 2018, David R. Curry, Jr. helped to start the company, Four Way Productions. In January 2019, he also formed a gospel group called David R. Curry, Jr. and the Psalms of David, and they did their first Single CD in March called ‘Rescue Me’ and another Single CD called ‘Philippians 4:13’. Currently, David Curry is working in conjunction with Only4Jesus International Recording Studios and RuffBoyz Music Group, LLC. David Curry says that he and the people he works with have only just begun because God is elevating them to great new heights. He adds: “Everything that is connected to us wins because There is Much More to Come!!!”

Michael Patrick

Patrick Michael

At 12 years of age, Patrick began learning to play his mom’s 25-year-old acoustic guitar and taught himself songs from the internet. He soon began formal lessons at the Jubilee Performing Arts Center and he was hooked. The following year, he became a piano major and found his mentor in the school’s founder Dr. Terrance Alexander. His time with Dr. Alexander and the JPAC staff shaped him as a man, an artist and music minister. He spent hours after school in voice lessons and assisting the choir director. Via JPAC, Patrick developed his talents across the country. Five days after taking an early high school graduation, he relocated to New York to attend The American Music and Dramatic Academy where he studied musical theatre. He has also spent time making music and mentoring young people via the Queens World Film Festival film and video education program.  He has opened for Tamela Mann, Cece Winans, Sheron Jackson and Erica Campbell as a solo act.

Bridget Robinson

Bridget Robinson

I am Bridget Robinson, a praise and worship leader as well as a gospel singer. I was born and raised in the small town of Wesson, Mississippi to Betty Robinson and the late Charlie Frank Robinson Sr.  Being the youngest of nine children, I was determined to be a trailblazer in my family. Initially, my journey began at the age of thirteen when I opened my heart and mouth to sing my first song. I will always remember how it made me feel to witness the impact my voice and witness could have on others.

Mahalia Jackson once said, “When you sing gospel, you have a feeling there is a cure for what’s wrong.”  It was not until my adult life that the words of the Gospel would give me purpose. Every time I stand behind a microphone, I know it is the Great I Am giving me the strength to minister His truth –the cure to all. While my tenure as a worship leader may not be long, my passion for serving others has always been the pulse of my existence.  My fifteen-year career in Public Service has granted me amazing opportunities to do my first love—serve those in need.  My public service platform served as a birthing place for inspiration for me and others through seminars and conferences I had the pleasure of hosting such as: Love Begins Within, Journey to Freedom, and my very first business, Confidently Me.  Jesus has been, is, and forever will be the driving force of my life and my ministry.

Joel is married to the apple of his eye, the star in his night sky, the sugar in his tea, his queen Ebony Eugene Jackson who was his middle school, high school, college and adulthood sweetheart!!! For over 13 years, Joel has honored and respected his loving wife. They have one handsome God-loving two-year-old son named Joel Jackson Jr. One day, you will see him somewhere preaching as hard as his father, just look out — you will know he is Min. Joel’s son. Joel accepted his calling to minster at the age of 17 and at 19, he was licensed to teach and preach the uncompromising, triumphant, dynamic word of God to save, change, free and uplift the people of God.
